How liquidity is classified

The Liquid vs illiquid chart shows how much of your wealth you can access quickly versus assets that are locked up or hard to sell.

Where does this data come from?

Tremis assigns a default liquidity classification to each account based on its type. You can override this per account in the account settings.

Liquid by default

Cash, current accounts, savings accounts, publicly traded stocks, crypto, ETFs

Illiquid by default

Property, private investments, pensions (until retirement age), precious metals held in storage

Liabilities (excluded from liquidity chart)

Mortgages, loans, and credit cards appear in the liabilities view instead.

How to override the classification

  1. 1Go to Accounts and click the account you want to adjust.
  2. 2In the edit panel, find the Liquidity field and choose Liquid, Illiquid, or leave it as the default for the account type.
  3. 3Save. The chart updates automatically.

Why it matters

Knowing how much of your portfolio is accessible in a crisis is a key measure of financial health. The liquidity chart helps you spot if too much wealth is tied up in illiquid assets.
